Fee For Private Tutoring

For CGA students seeking individual tutoring from a course content specialist, the Association has established a roster of lecturers and markers who can provide tutoring services for a fee. While we cannot always guarantee the availability of a qualified tutor, it is likely that we can arrange tutor support for most courses and exam offerings.

Consider Your Options

Before choosing paid tutoring, the Association strongly urges you to investigate all other forms of student support currently available at no additional cost to you. These include the Online Course Director/Peer-to-Peer Discussion Forums and the Online Lectures and Exam Reviews, which are available in BlackBoard OLE along with many other study resources.  You also have access to the national CGA Student Study Group centre – click here.

To Request Tutor Service

Should you choose paid tutoring, you may share the cost with one or more students, but please note that the more students involved, the less individual attention you will receive.

To arrange this service, please fill out the Request for Private Tutoring Form, including VISA/MasterCard payment. The cost for this service is $80 per hour. Your name and contact information will be given to the tutor. He or she will contact you, typically within 48 hours, to discuss your tutoring needs. Once your tutoring session is completed, your tutor will contact the administrator and advise us of the length of time of your tutoring session.

Preparing to Meet With Your Tutor

You determine the topics to be covered, the tutor determines how best to cover these topics, and how much time to allot to each topic. Following this initial discussion, the tutor will estimate the time it will take to prepare for the tutorial session. You and the tutor will then negotiate a mutually convenient time for the tutorial session. This may be in person, or by telephone. If you wish to meet your tutor in person, it is expected that you will travel to the tutor's chosen site.

Keep in Mind

  • Your tutor cannot guarantee to meet all of your needs or that you will be successful in your examination. The tutor does guarantee to make every effort to aid you in understanding course materials and/or topics that you find unclear.
  • While your tutor will be as flexible as possible in finding an appropriate time to meet with you, the two of you may have incompatible schedules. Please submit your request for tutorial assistance a minimum of two weeks prior to your deadline.
  • The tutor may determine that not all of your chosen topics can be covered within the tutorial session. Be prepared to prioritize topics.
  • It is understood that all students and tutors will conduct themselves in a courteous, professional and ethical manner.
