CGA-BC Leaders Host Merger Update
Forums for Members, Students
Canada’s accounting profession is undergoing extensive change this year, with several merger discussions underway across the country. CGA-BC is committed to keeping its members and students as up to date as possible. We recommend you stay abreast of events through the articles and links on our Working to Keep You Informed page.
We will send out messages about additional forums elsewhere in the province once the details have been finalized.
Session 2 Public Speaking Seminar Location
Session 1 Public Speaking classes are on January 14, 15, 21 & 22, 2011 from 10 am to 4 pm at UBC in the following rooms:
Section 20 & 21: ANGU 296
ANGU is the Henry Angus Building located at 2053 Main Mall, Vancouver, BC.
Students may want to bring their own lunch as food services are limited on weekends at UBC.
Please note that all classes must be attended and that successful completion of this public speaking course will result in a mark of “COM” (completed) being recorded on your student transcript.
Here is a map of the UBC campus and building locations.
A Reminder about the PERC (Professional Experience Required for Certification)
Students with 10 or less courses remaining in the CGA program are required to report their practical experience by filling out a PERC online assessment. Please submit your PERC in a timely manner in order to avoid delays to your expected graduation date. PERC submissions are accepted throughout the year, even during the holidays.
The PERC reporting tool can be found here, or under the Students Tab in Professional Experience. Be sure to make use of the detailed Student Guide and career maps as they will help ease you through the process.
The Student Advisory Group (SAG)

Are you interested in sharing your experiences and ideas about the CGA program? Would you like to offer feedback that could benefit the program and your fellow students? If so, we would like to invite you to apply to join the Student Advisory Group (SAG) for 2012.
SAG members need to be approved by CGA-BC and must attend two meetings during the upcoming year.
In order to apply for the SAG, please complete the application here: Application for Membership on the Student Advisory Group
The deadline for applications is Friday, January 27, 2012.
Our first meeting this year will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the CGA-BC office, 6 pm – 9 pm.
We look forward to hearing from you.
The economy may have slowed but demand for CGA members and students are still strong. For proof, see the Hot Jobs page updated weekly. If you haven’t already signed up to CGAjobs.org, do so. And don’t forget to post your resumé to the site.
