Fellowship Designation Awarded to Former Acting Auditor General

Vancouver, B.C. – The Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia (CGA-BC) is proud to announce that one of its members, Arn van Iersel, FCGA, has been granted a Fellowship by CGA-Canada. The FCGA designation or fellowship, is an award granted by the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada in recognition of exemplary service to the Association, the profession or the public.
Van Iersel received his CGA designation in 1986 and has a long and distinguished public service career. Over the past 31 years, he has worked for the Treasury Board, Financial Services and Administration, the Provincial Treasury, Ministry of Human Resources and the Office of the Comptroller General. He served as Associate Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Children and Family Development and as Comptroller General of British Columbia. Most recently, he served as Acting Auditor General of British Columbia.
He is an active member of the Financial Management Institute (FMI) and received an award of excellence from FMI in 2006. He is also a member of the Public Sector Accounting Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
The Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia represents more than 13,000 CGAs and students. Members work in industry, commerce, government and in public practice. The association promotes the excellence of its members and advances the accounting profession through education, certification and the protection of the public interest.
