Members Needed for Discipline Committee
August 1, 2008
To protect the public interest, CGA-BC, as a self-regulating professional body, adheres to prescribed standards as set out in our Act, Bylaws, and Code. Members and students have a duty to conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner in serving clients, employers, and the public.
Those who breach these rules face a disciplinary process and sanctions.
We are looking for members committed to these ideals and willing to participate in the regulation of our profession by serving on our Discipline Committee. There is a specific need for members registered in public practice, as well as for members who work in industry and government.
Members of the Discipline Committee participate in panel hearings and are responsible for applying our Code with fairness and due regard to the trust granted the Association.
We offer a complete training and orientation process that ensures you have the support required to participate fully in disciplinary proceedings. We also offer the opportunity to develop your communication, meeting and public speaking skills.
The Association takes its obligation to protect the trust of the public with the utmost seriousness. Members who are interested in participating must be able to interact with CGA members and others with tact and professional courtesy.
This is an educational, interesting and challenging role. Time commitment varies depending on the number and complexity of cases.
To be considered for this opportunity, contact [jtimmerman#cga-bc,org]Jim Timmerman, CGA, Manager, Professional Conduct, at (604) 629-8374 or complete the volunteer application form.
