Coordinator, Practical Experience
The Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia (CGA-BC) is a not-for-profit, self-regulating professional association based in Vancouver. With more than 14,000 members and students, CGA-BC is the largest and fastest growing accounting body in the province.

CGA-BC is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communications skills for the full-time position of Coordinator, Practical Experience. 

This is an opportunity for a hands-on, self-motivated individual to use their skills in a collegial, professional environment where the importance of work-life balance is recognized and respected.

Reporting to the Manager, Education & Evaluation, and the Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Developing appropriate procedures and processes in the evaluation of student practical experience assessment questionnaires (PEAQ), including the re-assessment of PEAQ’s
  • Participating in the national practical experience workgroup to harmonize practical experience assessment processes
  • Working with the Association’s Recruitment team in the promotion of CGA-BC’s Partners in Employment Program (PEP), and communicating with PEP employers to help evaluate employment positions as assessed training positions
  • Promoting awareness of the practical experience requirements amongst CGA students and employers
  • Assisting, where possible, with student information sessions, Chapter functions and the Association’s annual convocation ceremony.

The Coordinator must have strong interpersonal and communications skills, including listening, business writing and making oral presentations. The successful candidate will have a sincere interest in helping students succeed in the CGA program and in promoting the benefits of the program. In addition, the successful candidate will possess strong administrative skills with an aptitude for detail work.

The Coordinator will have a CGA designation as well as a university degree in business. Familiarity with the current CGA program, and a good understanding of the nature of work performed by accountants, auditors and financial managers is required.  A minimum of three years of experience in the accounting profession is required. Candidates with experience in an educational or professional environment will be given preference.

Coordinator, Student Operations

CGA-BC is looking for an energetic person to fill the position of Coordinator, Student Operations. This is an opportunity for a hands-on, self-motivated individual to use their skills in a collegial, professional environment where the importance of work-life balance is recognized and respected.

The Coordinator, Student Operations, reporting to the Manager, Student Operations, implements all examination procedures to ensure that students are advised of their eligibility to write exams; ensures that students write exams under proper supervision and in a suitable environment. The ideal candidate will enjoy a team-orientated and challenging environment, have a strong service focus and possess a keen interest in helping students succeed in the CGA program.

The position’s diverse duties include:

  • establishing and maintaining a network of exam location centres
  • preparing and distributing notices to encourage members to volunteer as exam invigilators
  • assisting with testing of all exam-related computer applications and be knowledgeable of all required systems for assignments and examinations
  • handling all inquiries regarding the examination process
  • assisting in the management of student records
  • act as a support in the student operations area

The Coordinator, Student Operations, will possess the following attributes:

  • a mature attitude
  • the ability to communicate in a concise, positive and supportive manner
  • exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • the ability to work well under pressure.

The Coordinator will have several years’ work experience in business, preferably in a post-secondary educational environment.  Post-secondary education is highly desirable.
