Policy
The CGA Community Service Award honours members and students who have provided outstanding service to their community. The award recognizes that exceptional voluntary contributions of members and students at the community level further enhance the professional image and profile of Certified General Accountants.
Criteria
It is recognized that outstanding service to one's community can be achieved in many different ways including:
Dedication
The member has, over a period of many years, provided voluntary service to non-profit community organizations, service and support of charitable organizations, public service as an elected officer or as an education/hospital board member, or contributions to the arts.
Leadership
Through their public works or humanitarian acts, the recipient has promoted the profession and CGA-BC to the public. Their active voluntary participation serves as an example to others of the important role of CGAs play in philanthropy.
Eligibility
The individual nominated must be a CGA-BC member or a student of CGA-BC. It is expected that a maximum of two awards would be conferred each year, although not necessarily every year.
Nomination
Nominations can be made by any five members or by the Honours & Awards Task Force. The nomination form must be completed and signed and accompanied by the narrative describing the recipient’s demonstrated qualities as outlined in the policy and criteria together with any appropriate documentation.
Completed nominations must be received by March 15 of each year. The nomination is judged solely on the information provided.
